Creating a valid power of attorney in Pennsylvania requires selecting an agent, defining the scope of authority, and executing the document in compliance with Pennsylvania law. When naming multiple agents, the document must specify whether agents must act jointly, severally, or in some other combination under 20 Pa.C.S. § 5602(b)(1) . If the document does not specify, agents must act jointly by default. Acting severally means either agent may act alone. Acting jointly means both must sign or authorize each transaction. When two agents are required to act jointly, a transaction signed by only one agent is unauthorized and may be void. Having access to account passwords does not override the requirement for joint authorization.
