In 1998, he moved to Florence, South Carolina, after taking a job with the former law firm of Bridges, Orr, Derrick & Ervin. While working at Bridges, Orr Derrick & Ervin, his primary area of practice was insurance defense. He worked with this firm until May, 2001, when he entered into private practice. While in private practice, he engaged in personal injury litigation, insurance defense, and criminal defense (State and Federal). During the course of his legal career, he has been admitted to practice law in the South Carolina State Court’s, Federal District Court for South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. On February 3, 2010, he was elected by the General Assembly to the position of Circuit Judge, At-Large, Seat Number 8. He served in this capacity until June 30, 2023 when he decided to transition back into the private practice of law.
