Matt began his career as a city attorney for Corpus Christi, prosecuting Class C offenses. Within months, he was hired by the Nueces County DA’s Office. There, he caught the attention of Mark Gonzalez, a young lawyer with a thriving defense firm. Mark hired Matt in 2015, and they practiced criminal defense together until 2017, when Mark was elected to be our District Attorney. Naturally, Matt became Mark’s First Assistant District Attorney and Lead Prosecutor. Matt thrived in that position, becoming one of the most venerated attorneys in Corpus Christi and earning the moniker “Manning of the People.”
